Getting started with pediatric therapy shouldn’t feel overwhelming. Here’s everything you need to know about how to begin services at Texarkana Therapy Center, what to expect, and how we work with your family and your healthcare provider.

How to Get Started
Get a Referral
To begin the process, the first step is securing a referral from your child’s primary care provider. Texas and Arkansas Medicaid require a referral for therapy evaluations.
Private insurance plans may not require a referral, but we recommend it so that we can collaborate with your child’s pediatrician on their plan of care.
Complete Intake Paperwork
Once a referral has been received, our office will reach out to confirm it and send you an electronic intake packet. This paperwork must be completed before we can see your child. It includes consent forms, medical background, and all necessary information to schedule the evaluation.
Schedule an Evaluation
After completing the forms, simply call our office to confirm, and we’ll schedule your child’s evaluation.
What to Expect at the Initial Evaluation
Each evaluation typically takes about one hour per therapy discipline. If your child is being evaluated for more than one service, we may schedule back-to-back sessions or spread them across separate days, depending on your child’s needs and tolerance.
During the evaluation, you’ll stay with your child and be asked questions about their daily routines, challenges, and goals. Once the evaluation is complete, we’ll send the documentation to the referring physician and your insurance provider (if required). After all authorizations and approvals are done, we’ll contact you to schedule ongoing therapy sessions
Insurance and Payment Information
Texarkana Therapy Center accepts both Texas Medicaid and Arkansas Medicaid, as well as most major private insurance plans. To verify that we accept your specific insurance plan, please call us and we’ll be happy to help.

Texarkana Therapy Center also accepts CareCredit to help families manage out-of-pocket costs. This flexible payment option can make accessing services more affordable and manageable.
